How does the tip-based tour work?

There is no fixed price for the tour. Tipping your guide at the end is optional, and the amount is entirely up to you.

Are temple and shrine admission fees included?

No. Temple and shrine admission fees are not included in the tour.

Can children join the tour?

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please do not include children ages 15 and under in the number of guests when booking.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

No. The route includes stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.

​​

Can I join the tour with a stroller?

Yes. You can join with a stroller, but you will need to carry it yourself on stairs.

Can large groups join the free tour?

Groups of up to 5 people can join the free tour. Groups of 6 or more must book a private tour. Travel agencies and organized tour groups must book a private tour, regardless of group size.

Does the tour run in the rain?

Yes. The tour runs in the rain. If we cancel the tour, we’ll notify you at the email address you provided when booking.

What should I do if I’m late or can’t find the guide?

Please arrive at the meeting point 5 minutes before the tour starts. The tour departs on time. We do not wait for late arrivals or contact them individually.

How do I cancel or change my booking?

Use “Manage Booking” in your confirmation or day-before reminder email, or email info@kyotolocalized.com, to cancel or reschedule your booking. If you can no longer join, please cancel as soon as possible. No cancellation or no-show fees apply to free tours.

To change the number of participants, cancel your existing booking and make a new reservation with the correct group size.
