When I can Travel to Japan?
Latest timetable of the prediction of when Japan will open it borders.
Unfortunately, the state of emergency could be extended again. Perhaps it will be postponed until the end of September.

"Difficult to end COVID emergency as planned: Japan health minister"
Japan Health Minister said on a television program that an extension of the state of emergency would be inevitable.
So Japan will delay the resumption of visa.
Why State of Emergency matters?
Website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, page "Application for Visa for foreign nationals eligible for Phased Measures toward Resuming Cross-Border Travel", it is written on Note 4.
"Based on the new measures on January 13, 2021, the validity of issued visas under this scheme will be suspended from 0:00 am (JST) on January 21, 2021 until the lifting of state of emergency."
Election
The Japanese government is considering to hold the house election on Oct. 17.
Why Election matters to reopening?
1.The Suga Cabinet did not close the border even when the state of emergency was announced this January. That was a push from the public and the media, and the border was closed in a hurry.
2.The approval rating of the Cabinet is low, so it is difficult to open the border before the election.
